SweetPro Premium Feed Supplements introduces a new nutritional technology for the livestock industry – a distiller’s grain based SUPER FUEL for all kinds and classes of livestock.

SweetPro started developing this nutritional technology back in 1991 when Bob Thornberg, SweetPro’s president, created a way to stabilize the by-products of ethanol by combining Dried Distiller’s Grains Solubles and Condensed Distiller’s Solubles into a solid block. This has produced an excellent carrier for the vitamin and mineral package that animals need for optimum health.
The wet mash by-product from ethanol plants is an excellent feed source for feed lots and cattle operations in close proximity to the ethanol plants. One can not economically transport this product more than about 70 miles from the ethanol plants because it spoils quickly and has a high content of water. With our patented process we can deliver a stable product (18 month shelf life) anywhere in the United States and Canada.

The key to our products is found in the process to produce ethanol. The ethanol plant takes in corn, runs it through a hammer mill, liquefies it, adds enzymes to it, and then ferments it in enormous tanks. This is the same process that a cow or horse does – it eats the forage, hammers it with its teeth, liquefies it, adds enzymes to it, and then ferments it in the rumen (the horse’s forage fermenter is the cecum). The ethanol plant then distills off the ethanol leaving behind the starch free “predigested” distiller’s grain. This “predigestion” of the distiller grains makes the SweetPro product line (both blocks and granular) virtually 100% available for animal benefit and has a positive associative effect on the fiber digesting bacteria in the rumen/cecum. In grains or a molasses based tub a percentage of the energy in that tub has to go to the digestion process leaving less than 100% available for animal benefit and starch digestion has a negative associative effect on the fiber digesting bacteria in the rumen/cecum. Distiller’s grains are known for their high rumen by-pass value which helps in milk production and a great protein source for growing frame.
The next step of the process is to blend in a balanced vitamin and mineral package into the block for maximum performance. Once again SweetPro/EquiPride looks to make sure that minerals will be absorbed by the animals because if minerals don’t get into the bloodstream they’re going out the waste stream. About 50% of the trace minerals are organically complexed (chelated) that is broken down outside of the body resulting in high bio-availability for the animal.

Then we come to SweetPro/EquiPride’s “Golden Nugget”, PROBIOTEIN. In a proprietary process, SweetPro/EquiPride went back to the ethanol process but this time they used wheat, barley malt, oats, and flax as the grain source to give a wide amino acid profile (building blocks of protein). They are run through the hammer mill, liquefied, combined with enzymes, and yeast is cultured in the fermentation tanks. When this ferments to the point where the ethanol plant would distill the ethyl alcohol off (killing the yeast and enzymes in the process due to the heat), SweetPro/EquiPride simply blends this ethyl alcohol back into the distiller’s grain block (The yeast and enzymes are still viable and the ethyl alcohol adds more energy). PROBIOTEIN also has probiotic feeders – that is food for the forage digesting bacteria.

The SweetPro/EquiPride line of products as a complete balanced ration is designed to match your forage. Feeding SweetPro/EquiPride helps your animals digest forage 25% more efficiently. On a mature animal in good condition this means that they will eat 25% less hay or pasture. On a growing animal they will eat about the same but they will get more out of the feed and grow faster (frame and muscle growth not fat). 1 pound of SweetPro/EquiPride also replaces 3.5 pounds of grain or range cubes.

SweetPro products are available for all classes of livestock from small to large operations. The program is designed for 1 pound per head per day with the tubs (this is regulated by Ammonium Sulfate – NO UREA is used making all of our products safe for horses!!) or 1 oz/cwt on the granular products.
